2023 Year in Review - Quilts from Pointless Quilter

I can't believe I didn't blog at all in 2023.  I'd love to say I'm just too busy but that wouldn't be the truth.  I easily could have found the time to update.  I will try to do better this year.  I'm going to split my updates between quilting and cross stitching and other crafting stuff plus life updates to keep the post from being too long or picture heavy.

I did quilt some this past year, more than I thought I had.  Amazing when you have to go back to look to see ...

Pieces to the Mystery Puzzle from Life in the Scrapatch

These four patches are some of the units for the

Monday's Mystery ~ QATW Winter Camp

I am really liking how my scraps are looking in this mystery.

Here are some more pieces to the puzzle.

I have these sewn together and all the blocks made.

Tomorrow I hope to have the top to show you.

To sew along or receive the clues,

You will have to be a member of the

Quilting Around the World Forum

Since I am on the last clue, I have seen the reveal and I love this pattern!

Getting Ready for a Winter Mystery Quilt Along from Life in the Scrapatch

Winter Mystery Fabrics

These scrappy blue winter fabrics have been in my stash a long time.

They are left from a swap that I participated in many years ago.

I have used some of the swap fabric in a quilt and other projects, but I still have a pile left.  I am using a single white solid for the background. The white is from the "Thatched" collection by Moda.  It is a bright white called "Blizzard."

I am hoping to use some of them up to sew a quick and easy mystery table runner next Monday.

It is happening online ...

Christmas Ribbons from Appalachian Quilts

I have blogged before about quilts I have made over the years - some of them I love, some, well, not so much.  As a shop owner, you are tasked with making samples.  Samples of new patterns, samples of new fabric lines and samples for classes are all necessary to help customers envision what the fabric/pattern would look like.  Not everyone has the same taste as you, so you have to stretch yourself.  Sometimes you end up liking something way out of your comfort zone, so I never really minded much.

When I made this Christmas Ribbons quilt, I absolutely ...

Batik Bowtie Quilt from Appalachian Quilts

Yup - I finished another UFO!  This was a class I taught - I'm pretty sure it was one of our mystery quilts.  I miss those Friday Night Mystery Quilt nights!  We had so much fun.  Usually, we brought potluck.  Class started at 6 and went until midnight-ish.  The best part of it was the fellowship.  Why does this virus have to take away our fellowship?  *sigh*

I do love batiks.  I go back and forth between traditional and batiks when it comes to fabric.  I think that's why we stock so many.  (We have hundreds of bolts in stock ...

Fall Frolic is Finished from Pointless Quilter

It's been a while since I have posted.  Sorry about that.  Life does seem to get in the way of doing things that need to be done.

I did have a quilt finish.  I finally finished the Bonnie Hunter (Quiltville) 2019/2020 Mystery quilt.  I didn't do a lot of fancy quilting.  It was so busy that it wouldn't have shown anyway and I'm getting to the point that getting it done is better than letting it sit there.  I did do some fall leaf design in the border though.

It turned out less mottled than ...

A Half a Year Later... from The Modern Diary

So I really need to get back to blogging and reading my blogs.  I miss it.  I have a few more days until the school year is over (teaching from home due to Covid 19) and we move to Milwaukee!  My daughter Hannah is pregnant with my first grandbaby (Coleman's wife has six kids and one grandkid but we never see them and well it is a long story...) and due the end of September.  We found a house about 15 minutes from her and less than ten from my video relay job (I am transferring).  I am so ...

2019 Quilt and Cross Stitch Parade from Pointless Quilter

Even with this being the crappiest year, I have surprised myself on how much I did get done.  I had 13 items on my 2019 Goals list and I was able to finish 8 of them.  (Orange Jamestown Landing, Good Fortune BH Mystery) Black/Tan Idol quilt, Guild mystery, Moda Blockhead, Consignment Blue quilt, Trick or Treat, Material Girl Challenge-curved leaves)

Cross Stitching has been added to my hobby list which was a blessing to have since I spent a lot of time sitting in a hospital and rehab with my dad.  So without any further ado...

The Quilts...

The ...

A Cross Stitch Finish and Bonnie Hunter Mystery from Pointless Quilter

It's been kind of  slow month.  My machine (Bernina 750) has been in the shop for the past two weeks so not a whole lot of quilting going on.  But I did finish a cross stitch piece.  It's a Prairie Schooler Santa.  See photo above.  This is the one with the Sewing Machine.  I also have the pattern with a quilt and that will be the next one I work on.  They are pretty easy patterns and they use mostly the same DMC colors so they all coordinate.  They have an annual Santa.  The one with the sheep ...
